Learn how Dibz differs from BuzzStream

Dibz has been compared to BuzzStream often enough for us to need to outline the main differences between the two tools.

Namely, Dibz focuses on helping you find and evaluate link building opportunities, while BuzzStream, apart from also having some prospecting capabilities, serves as a comprehensive outreach and contact management utility.

The reason we don’t see ourselves and BuzzStream, or other similar solutions, so much as competitors as potentially very compatible tools is the following - we’ve found that most of the time, the first real wall you’ll run into when scaling your link building efforts is not basic process efficiency (which is important, but also more manageable) but the number of prospects you can find.

In other words, it doesn’t matter how many emails you can send if there is no one to send them to.

That’s why the main link building problem Dibz tries to solve is how to find and evaluate as many interesting prospects as possible, while giving you all the flexibility in terms of cost management and ease of use that you need.

So, if you are already using BuzzStream for outreach management, but would like to have more control over the prospecting part, here’s how you might benefit from using Dibz to find and evaluate opportunities, and if you wish, easily import them into BuzzStream for contacting.

Search

Aside from their Discovery platform focused on finding influencers from a database you can expand on your own, prospecting in BuzzStream is limited to you supplying up to 20 queries (searches in their terminology), selecting a country you want to focus on, and getting an unfiltered list of results, which can - because of the 100 results per query limitation - contain a maximum of 2000 results.

While Dibz creates similar queries by combining keywords with operators and footprints, we also give you more options, whether you are a beginner or an experienced prospector.

For those who want a quick and easy search, we provided the option to filter your search even further by:

  • specifying the TLD you’d like to focus on

  • the language of the results to be returned

  • the date range of the results

This means that the results returned with this search would be much closer to what you actually need.

While an experienced prospector could simulate some of those filters in BuzzStream with adequate operators, they couldn’t simulate another option we offer, i.e. search depth. With BuzzStream you get up to 100 results per query, based purely on their availability, with Dibz you can specify how many results you want per query (also up to 100, but we don’t have a limit on the number of queries per search). This means that if you only want to see the top quality results for a certain topic, you can provide a wide range of keywords covering the subject matter extensively, but you don’t have to worry about lower quality results cluttering your list.

Another illustration of the balance we tried to strike between the needs of experienced prospectors who want absolute freedom to compose mile-long searches and those who want a quick and easy way to get all kinds of link building opportunities is found in our research type templates and custom search options. With Dibz you don’t have to know how to look for influencers on Twitter or for the best local citation or guest blogging opportunities to be able to dive right in and start refining your process drastically as you go along. However, if you already have an idea how you would like to do this, Dibz gives you every option that you need.

Filtering

Apart from giving you the freedom to be as specific or as vague as you want when composing your search, Dibz also gives you more filtering options. So, not only can you do more of the “pre-filtering,” we have also paid more attention to the classification of the results that are actually being returned.

That’s not to say that BuzzStream doesn’t have some interesting metrics and filtering options for their prospects, most notably, domain age and Moz Rank; Dibz, aside from also offering a more extensive range of metrics with the results themselves, has a 17 factor SPAM filter that users can set up with amazing precision to reflect their exact standards in site evaluation.

The bottom line

If you are interested in finding more prospects, and want to have greater control over their relevance and quality, Dibz does come with some advantages. But again, since you’ll need to actually do something with those prospects, BuzzStream is as fine an outreach management platform as any, and combining the benefits of our absolutely flexible payment system (even with some of the cheapest BuzzStream plans) might allow you to get the best out of both worlds - as many prospects as you need, and a platform for managing and contacting them.
